There is no shortage of quality fishing brands and or fishing pages out there on Social Media. While Active Duty Fishing is on Facebook, and about 5 minutes after this post, will have a Twitter; Our main stay is Instagram. At the time of this writing we have 752 followers. I hope to read this one day, and look back saying "Man, remember when we had 752 followers?" -Quote from Future Tim
That being said here are some of our positions on Social Media:
1) Quality of followers > Quantity of Followers: We are an almost 50% (at this time) combination of personal and follower pictures. We truly love featuring fishermen and their catches who idealize what Active Duty Fishing is all about. If I've ever reached out to you about a feature... There is a reason. You are a grinder, who produces quality fishing results. Additionally, we would rather have 1,000 followers who care about, like, and engage with the content produced, than 30,000 followers who could care less.
InstaFacts: Pages buy followers. Pages get popular by using other people’s photo's.
Instapromise: Yeah... We don't and won't do that shit. There is an unbelievable amount of fishing content out there. We strongly believe that between ourselves and our followers, we can create and personally share enough unique stuff enough to anchor the point, that simply reposting popular fishermen's content is hot garbage. A lot of the same pages who conduct themselves in such a way also buy followers. There are pages that have 30,000 followers but get 200 likes on their photos. Obviously, they have purchased a good chunk of that 30k. and we would never weaken the quality or integrity of our beloved following.
2) Professional vs. Amateur Content: Considering the pride we take in our community as a brand, we recognize that those grinders who are truly "Active Duty Fishermen" are hardly professionals. I guarantee you from now until forever that at least 75% of our content will be taken from a Cell Phone Camera, and a ton of which will be selfies. This is because we are all Amateur Fishermen who have a Professional mindset. We work to pay the bills and spend the rest on tackle. Cameras are expensive!! Lol. All kidding aside, there again is a plethora of fishermen on the social scene who take well produced, professional quality photographs. We believe in the moment of the catch, and so many times as amateurs we can’t stage that moment. We're dirty and tired, but still super stoked and proud of our moment whether it’s a dink or a trophy. I love the idea of Amazing Fishing Photography.... And I'm open to it. But it's not truly who we, as Active Duty Fishermen are.
Nope. That's as far as I'll take it. Other than those main points we'll see where it goes. I refuse to make any moral standings or establish any more ground rules. That's for the birds.
If you are not a follower, I really hope you become one. Check out our Social Profiles on Facebook and Instagram below. We'd love for you to share your catches and use #activedutyfishing. Tight Lines and Bent Rods!
Hey Folks! So, this is the first blog post I'm writing on the new site, and I just wanted to tell you, if you are reading this.... THANK YOU! It TRULY means the world to me that out of the bazillion places you could be on the internet, you have come to my little slice of real estate.
I hope that my hard work as an entrepreneur on Social Media or Word of Mouth brought you here; but if you've never heard of Active Duty Fishing, I'd love to tell you what it's all about!
While there is certainly a military theme and influence to the brand, and we want to popularize fishing in the military. Active Duty Fishing is a brand that relates to EVERYBODIES love for Fishing, whether you wear a Uniform or not.
Active Duty Fishing is a WAY OF LIFE. Currently serving my 10th year on Active Duty in the U.S. Navy I can definitely say that the term "Active Duty" has some weight to it, and to say that you are Active Duty evokes a lot with it. To be Active Duty means that even when you’re off work, you’re on the clock. Ready at a moment's notice. Your life revolves around the mission. When one mission is executed, another is right there to consume you. To be on Active Duty is truly a state of being that never ends.
I personally, like so many of my fellow fishing brethren, and yourself included, apply that same mindset and approach to our beloved sport of fishing. Here, Fishin' is the Mission! Active Duty Fishing takes the place of one saying "I'm an Avid Angler" or "They're a Hardcore Fisherman!". We are all Active Duty Fishermen!
If you are out there chasing the bite in inclement weather, spending your Saturday night at your secret spot, looking up fishing reports at work, always have poles in your car for when you drive by that new body of water, or you find fishing tackle in your washing machine (Just a few examples of many): YOU ARE AN ACTIVE DUTY FISHERMAN! You love fishing! It's a part of you! And Active Duty Fishing is the brand that represents you! Like the Marine standing watch at midnight, in 20 degree cold, you are committed to this! We are committed to this!
At the time of this writing, Active Duty Fishing is merely transferring from and embryonic to a fetal stage. We've went from Idea, to reality. We have a heartbeat, but need some nurturing. Every single sale and dollar we EARN from you goes right back into bringing you more value, and sweet new designs and gear for you to rock. We have HUGE ambitions in the fishing game. We can't and wouldn't want to, do it without YOU!
I can't wait to see you guys rocking some cool quality Active Duty Fishing gear. Let's enjoy tight lines and bent rods TOGETHER!
